I was just having a conversation with someone (I believe it was Nick from WJHU) about how it seemed that the remix craze had seemingly died down a bit, and how there had not been as many memorable remixes recently as there once was. Then over the last week, the music world completely debunked that notion. First Rollo & Grady premiered Teen Daze‘s powerful remix of Lord Huron. I remember first catching wind of Teen Daze this past spring, and thinking to myself, “Man this dude is pretty good. I sure hope he keeps it up.” He has and then some. Then GvB puts out the Memory Tapes remix of “Running Out On You”, a stellar track off of the new Keep Shelly In Athens 12″. Holy crap! Memory Tapes had a small little lull in there somewhere, but now seems to be coming on like gangbusters. Then Hard Mix (a new favorite) and Shlohmo (never heard of him, but I likey) drop remixes of Twin Shadow and Toro Y Moi that were unexpected and awesome. Then old faithful aka Alan Wilkis aka “The” Man decides to end my week on a high note with his new remix of Film School which I was pumped about ever since he tweeted about working on it. Wilkis never fails to disappoint and keeps it up on this. Enough blabbering about these tracks, just listen dammit:
