New TalkFine – Can’t Wait To Say No

talkfine

The other day I posted on Brooklyn’s summer soul wonder TalkFine and their upcoming Lesser Known Hits release (out May 8th – pre-order).  They were kind enough to send over this slow burner that reminds me even more of the rich life Stevie Wonder exudes with his music.  Take a listen:

The Cloud Room – Zither

The Cloud Room zither

So remember what you were doing 7 years ago?  Kind of fuzzy.  Well do you remember the song “Hey Now Now” by The Cloud Room.  Hells yes I do….actually their whole debut S/T LP was friggin fantastic.  Well 7 years is a long time in between albums, but that’s the case with The Cloud Room who have just self-released Zither the long long long awaited sophomore album.  The result is a more refined, well produced (not over-produced though), and beautiful album.  Their style of rock is still there.  The catchiness is definitely still there…it’s just a bit different.  Matured perhaps?  This time around they were able to really work through songs and experiment with various production changes that were not available time-wise on the first album.  Mainly though – just listen:

Buy it via Bandcamp (stream it too), Amazon, or Insound.

Wizard Oz – Flashing Lights

Wizard Oz Flashing Lights

Melbourne’s Richie and Rusty aka Wizard Oz are back with a new LP, Flashing Lights.  It’s an album of sweet psych tempered electronic pop songs.  It’s an album of drum machine loops, understated vocals, and synth purity.  Grab it for free on their bandcamp or pick up the cassette on Peking Tapes (out May 5th).

Favorites: walter tv – Appetite

walter tv Appetite

Vancouver’s walter tv have created some seriously mind altering rock in their new LP Appetite.  Don’t take it from me – just check their facebook bio:

“Walter Tv is a chopped and screwed remix of an epic dubstep riff. undeniably bassy, these 3 lewd dudes from Vancouver Canada ruin the stage. onlookers rant as they fall to their knees in splendor and awe. the force of sound emanating from inside these incestuous creodonts is in close resemblance to a putrid defilers rugose moan. hoping to play in a city near you, and to kiss you on the lips.”

So there.  Basically if you like straight up frenetic guitars and drums with spiraling and swirling tripped out vocals raining down on your glazed over eyes…then, hey, come have a taste:

Get Appetite via bandcamp.

Pop Winds – Earth To Friend

Pop Winds Earth To Friend

Montreal’s Pop Winds have released their final LP, Earth To Friend, on Arbutus Records.  Its sad to know that their impressive electronic psych pop rock will not be continuing into the future…but this last collection of songs ends it perfectly I guess.  The energy is brought into this one.  Get it digitally via bandcamp or head over to Arbutus for the physical.
