The Verve – Forth

7 Oct

Sometimes it can be a bit strange when an older band that hasn’t put an album out this century attempts to come back onto the scene.  It can be downright ugly.  Not the case with The Verve’s Forth.  It’s a pretty solid reemergence of a band that many people adored back in the day.  Forth is not groundbreaking, but it continues their tradition of lush sonic rock that eases over your ears like the fuzziest of earmuffs.  Listening to this album also made me realize how much The Verve’s style is echoed throughout many of the current indie rock bands.  I guess that means something…here’s a couple of choice tracks off the album:

mp3: The Verve – Sit And Wonder

mp3: The Verve – Valium Skies

Yeah, Valium Skies was a big higlight for me. Also Judas and the bonus track Mover.

In case you’re interested, I did a post about the influence of William Blake in a couple of Verve songs: http://likepandas.blogspot.com/2008/10/intertextualit-1.html
