steel phantoms

Guitar rock has seemingly fallen by the wayside.  There are not too many folks playing it these days…even fewer playing it well…and much of it is throwback rehashed memories.  Brooklyn’s Steel Phantoms have it down, especially on their new (and free) EP Forer.  As a result of kicking ass with Kickstarter, they ventured to the nether regions of Connecticut to record this clear and concise 6 track EP.  The guitar sound is crisp and clean and shines to the forefront of most of the songs – right in line with the nicely layered vocal harmonies.  There’s nothing overwhelmingly exotic about any of these songs, just well written, well recorded rock.  I didn’t think that meant anything anymore, but listening to the Forer EP…it does.  Download it for free on their website.
