I didn’t know what I was getting into when the first notions of a beat emerged on Santa Monica’s Oregon Bike Trails’ song “Deep Sea Diver”. I thought I was flashing back in time to Prince’s “When Doves Cry” for a second. That comparison quickly vanished when the rain of harmonies came crashing down among bells and “doos”. He (Oregon Bike Trails is the project of Zach Yudin) may be a bit too warm for my east coast blood, but perhaps that’s just what us frozen city dwellers need.

oh my god. oh my god! seriously my whole hype machine exploration for the last twenty minutes or whatever was just instantly redeemed. now this is what i want to find more of. i like my tried and true artists, but when something new just hits you like whoa…i am what you would say…a happy woman.
could be the male fronted “best coast” or something. “deep sea diver” made me want to play that childhood game – “down down baby, down by the roller coaster (was it?), sweet sweet baby, i’ll never let you go, shimmy shimmy coco puff…” – yeah that’s the one.
“high school lover” is ok too, but yeah, “deep sea diver”! applause!
