New Music: Thing One

New Jersey (though I would swear they sound like they’re from England) quartet Thing One have something going with their debut EP You’ll Be Fine.  Danceable and energetic, but not overwhelming or over done (like so many dance-rock bands).  The harmonies and lyrics that Thing One sew into their rhythmic stomp echo bands like Pinback and The Dismemberment Plan.  Quite an unusual twist for the dance-rock genre, but it is very successful.  It lures me in easily with the groove but doesn’t turn me off with the lyrics.  Take a listen to one of the stand outs on the EP “Through The Winter”:
