LEANN GRIMES
The remix business has been buttered, baked, rebaked, hashed, sliced, and overblown in recent times. When something fresh comes along in that realm, it’s quite a nice surprise. Enter North Carolina’s LEANN GRIMES aka Shane Conerty. He takes seemingly popular and not so popular indie songs (Local Natives, Deerhunter, Kings Of Convenience, Morning Benders, Yellow Ostrich, etc.) and uses them as a starting point to re-construct and manipulate into his own kind of jam. Reminds me quite a lot of Joe Beats and that’s a big ole compliment coming from me. You can grab a smattering of tunes via Bandcamp.
