Two bands that put out stellar albums this year clash when YACHT does their bestest to bring their infectious styles to Phoenix’s “Armistice”. I was pretty much hooked as soon as I heard the thick bass line bounce through the track, but the when Bizarre-Love-Triangle-like synths kicked in I nearly died and went to heaven.
I know I declared Houston’s Dave Wrangler a robot last month, but now I’m beginning to think he’s some sort of super powered alien. He just puts out remix after mash up after remix. Before I can really get into the last one, there’s a new one. So here’s his latest grind of Amanda Blank and YACHT.
YACHT has just released their first video from their new See Mystery Lights album for the track “Psychic City (Voodoo City)”. The track has a storied past which you can read about here. The video has the band participating in some occult rituals in which they do not endorse in any way. Check it:
YACHT’s new album See Mystery Lights comes out on July 28th via DFA but they’ve given us another taste with “Psychic City”. THIS SONG GETS STUCK IN YOUR HEAD. BE WARNED! Something sweet and nice about YACHT is that they’ve given everyone the ability possibly the most detailed account of an origin of a song complete with the original version called “Voodoo City” by Rich Jensen and an instrumental version as well. Read all about it here. Take a listen now:
Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans aka YACHT recently unveiled their album art for their upcoming album See Mystery Lights. The managed to convince legendary album cover designer Boyd Elder (did many Eagles album covers including the amazing greatest hits one) from retirement for it. The image for YACHT’s new one is above, but they also created a web version which HURTS MY BRAIN. Take a look here (if you dare). Also if you missed their single of “Summer Song” then here it is (and pretty great I might add):
