Tonight there’s a phenomenally gritty and exciting show at the Ottobar with The Constantines and Time Fite. Down in DC DC9 has a pleasant amalgam with The Gray Kid and Paul Michel while the Velvet Lounge has PWRFL Power, Kitty Hawk, Hume, and Pree(of Le Loup). Finally up north in Philly Rachael Yamagata is playing an intimate show at the First Unitarian Church.

While you might be in the middle of putting the perfect costume together, I thought I’d just spill a little knowledge on some of the shows tonight. Down in DC the uber-band Coldplay rolls into the Verizon Center with Duffy while on a much smaller stage at Iota Junior League and The Resurrectionists play. Up in Philly the place to be is the Starlight Ballroom with Man Man, Tim Fite, and Pit Er Pat. No wait the place to be is the Electric Factory with Of Montreal and Gang Gang Dance. Aw shucks, I’m mistaken again. The place to be is the North Star Bar with Murs and Kidz In The Hall. I guess it’s really up to you where you should be.

Another Sunday is upon us, and though the Radiohead show tonight is in many peoples minds, why not take some time to deviate and explore a bit with a sampling of tasty music treats from around the globe.

Motocade is four piece band from New Zealand that plays an honest indie type of rock that makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Strange as that may sound, it’s true…as is this track.

Tim Fite is a Brooklyn musician that knows no boundaries. Sometimes dabbling in samples and hip hop, while the other times he’s strumming a lil geetar (like a fave of mine Buck 65). He has a new LP, Fair Ain’t Fair, due out on Anti- that really delves into his emotional folkish dark side.
