Most of the time a return to work from a good vacation can often be daunting and sometimes painful. But when not just one, but two new Thom Yorke songs (although one is a cover…but hey it works) are unveiled any discomfort or headache from the work week fades away. “All For The Best” is his contribution to Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy and it’s stunning, beautiful…blah blah blah…it’s Thom Yorke and everything he seems to produce is golden. No lie. He proves it further with his new solo acoustic performance of “The Present Tense” that he whipped out for Latitude this year. Take a look and listen:
The music world has recognized how great an artist Mr. Thom Yorke is, but there are certain instances where he (or his band Radiohead) will go out on a limb and do something special….like now. Yorke has remixed one of my favorite MCs MF DOOM or simply DOOM as he is now called. The track is called “Gazzillion Ears” and the remix has Yorke’s style written all over it. It’s also a longer song with a lengthier verse in it as opposed to many of the new DOOM tracks I’ve heard so far. All in all it’s a winner. Take a listen:
I’m pumped for the upcoming DOOM (formerly MF DOOM) album due out on March 24th and entitled Born Like This. Well apparently mister Thom Yorke is slated to remix the track “Gazzillion Ear” and will be featured as an Itunes bonus track. So what does this mean? It means I’ve circled March 24th in bright red magic marker on my calendar and I suggest you do the same. Here’s some tracks to help you fantasize what this remix might actually sound like.
Yesterday via Dead Air Space, Mr. Yorke had this to say:
in celebration of nov 5th
jonnys burthday
amid bonfire and fireworks in the UK
and the dawn of a new era in politics in the USA
i humbly donate a remix of harrowdown hill that was finished ages ago during the band webcasts,
a small reminder of the dark days of Bush’s….

Thanks Thom! Here it is:

Here in Baltimore tonight the Talking Head has another great Taxlo! with Say Wut, XXXChange, DJ Cullen Stalin, and DJ Simon Phoenix. Down in Virginia be sure to swing by the Galaxy Hut to see Greenland and Sad Crocodile. Finally if you’re up in Philly the First Unitarian Church has Efterklang and Slaraffenland. Enjoy.
