That’s it! The Twelves are friggin sick. End of story. Fever Ray’s “Seven”, one of my top tracks of the year, was re-done by CSS a little while back and I didn’t think I’d hear a better effort. Not sure if The Twelves are better but it’s damn near close. Check it:

Brazil’s The Twelves are really starting to reach that Treasure Fingers/Fred Falke territory for me where everything they put out just kills. That’s the case for two of their new remixes – Noah and the Whale’s “Blue Skies” and French Horn Rebellion’s “Beaches and Friends”. With these The Twelves have tapped into that period of time when disco was fading into new wave pop. Then they paint that rich sound delicately over the tracks…and wow. Check it:

Clearly one of my favorite tracks on Metric’s Fantasies, “Help, I’m Alive” gets the remix treatment from Brazil’s The Twelves on their single for the track. The Twelves are just showing off now. Every remix I’ve heard by them is killer and is the case with this one. They wrap Metric up in a disco house blanket and beckon you to strap on some roller skates and ride around to this tune.

A-Ha’s “Take On Me” is about as 80s as it gets and probably one of everyone’s favorite tracks from that era. So when a current DJ, aka Brazil’s The Twelves, takes a chance to go and club it up a bit, I TAKE NOTICE. At first I thought I was going to hate it, because I’m so fond of the original. As it turns out The Twelves excel yet again bouncing it up another notch or two to really get me going.

Tonight here in Baltimore don’t miss out on Brazilian Girls who are set to tear down Sonar. Walk ten feet from there to check Dead Confederate, Sonic Bloom, and Julie Ocean at the neighboring Talking Head. Have you ever been so busy that one moment it’s Sunday and you’re drinking a sip of coffee in the morning, then the next moment it’s 4:30 on Friday and your work week is almost over?
