I’ve been drowning myself in the shear goodness of LA’s The Little Ones’ new album Morning Tide for a while now. They have just put out a new video for the title track that is saturated in color and happiness almost to the point of nausea. Break out that fake plastic smile and enjoy!

Tonight in Baltimore don’t miss Wu-Tang members Method Man and Redman perform at Sonar. Down in DC Vivian Girls, Fucked Up, Cloak/Dagger, and Police & Theives play the Rock and Roll Hotel while The Little Ones, Via Audio, The Postelles, and Pash take on DC9. The event in DC tonight is Lykke Li who performs at the Black Cat with Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson. Finally up in Philly Barton Carroll of Crooked Fingers performs at the M Room with 13ghosts, Ponieheart, and Spirit and Dust. I think that’s about it unless you know f another one?

Wow there’s a ton of shows tonight. In Baltimore Joseph Arthur and the Lonely Astronauts play the Recher Theater while The Water, Screen Vinyl Image, Luxa, and Monocle play Metro Gallery. Also in Baltimore are Vivian Girls, Fucked Up, Akimbo, Surroundings, Sick Weapons (ex The Death Set), White Mice, 4th Horseman who play The Talking Head while DJ Blaqstarr, Claire Huxtable (Dlake+Symbol), DJ Sega, Dactyl Dactyl and Golgi Apparatus play the Ottobar. Down in DC The Cassettes (Album Release), Stamen & Pistels, and Brass Bed play the Black Cat while Bad Panda and Starfucker play the Red and the Black. Also in DC Magnetic Morning, Springhouse, Julie Ocean, and The Jet Age play the Rock and Roll Hotel. Up in Philly the Cold War Kids and AA Bondy play the Fillmore at the TLA while The New Motels, The Little Ones, Robes, and Problem Solving play the Khyber. Also up there is The Spinto Band, Frightened Rabbits, and the Sw!ms who play the First Unitarian Church while The Sky Drops, Asteroid #4, Blood Feathers, Sunshine Recorder, and Fleetwood Mike play the North Star Bar. I remember way back when, I was lucky enough to turn on the stereo and take in the amazing Rogue Wave for the first time. Beautiful, rich pop rock. Now if I keep drifting back, I can faintly remember the first time I popped Nada Surf into the tape deck for the first time. Again – powerful, lightning in a bottle pop rock that stays with you forever. Fast forward to today where I’m starting to clear out some memory space for a new band, The Little Ones. Yes, they are the friggn’ bee’s knees. Morning Tide is the title of their new album out on October 7th via Chop Shop Records. This album is a concentrated bunch of gorgeously recorded and performed pop rock that keeps me humming the tune well after I’ve listened to it.
