It’s rare that I use the term “club banga” on this site. It’s even rarer that I actually enjoy the track that the term describes. This rarity has occurred today when I ran across Switch’s “club banga” remix of one of this years best singles “Dominos” by The Big Pink. Switch pretty much strips any original identity of the track out of it aside from the lyrics and transforms it into a hot, sweaty, energizing glow in the dark monstrosity that has me buzzing around this morning. Thanks to Mad Decent.
The Big Pink are starting to get big I see (but not pink as far as I can tell) and that shouldn’t really surprise me considering that their single “Dominos”, off of the upcoming 4AD release A Brief History Of Love, is modern pop-ish rock at it’s finest. Nothing fancy – just catchy as hell, but not over done to make it disgustingly sweet. They’ve just put out a video (via p4k) for the track with exploding women ice sculptures. Yup.
It also looks like they’ll be making their way stateside. Unfortunately they won’t venture our way until December when they’ll be hitting up the Black Cat in DC on December 5th and Johnny Brenda’s in Philly on December 6th. More dates after the jump.
Pre order A Brief History Of Lovehere. It’s comes out on September 14th.
People always ask – who’s going to be the next big band to emerge? Well here’s my pick – The Big Pink. Hailing from the UK this band packs a powerful punch. Hazy guitars blast into screaming guitars growl into hazy electronics swept into curtains of sound. Glasvegas meets Animal Collective meets the Beach Boys. A Brief History Of Love, their debut album, will be released on September 15th via 4AD. The first single is the super sweet track “Dominos” and will be released as a 7″ with a new track “She’s No Sense” on September 7th. You can download it for free (with your email donation) at their website here. Meanwhile here’s a few more to digest:
