Remix: Blind Man’s Colour takes on Spanish Prisoner’s Los Angeles Guitar Dream

blind man's colour

What happens when one up and coming band decides to remix the other?  Hopefully good tings, right?  Well at least that’s the case when Florida’s Blind Man’s Colour decided to remix Brooklyn’s Spanish Prisoners.  I wrote a little piece on Spanish Prisoners earlier commenting on their solid free three song EP Los Angeles Guitar Dream.  The title track was definitely my favorite on the EP and it’s nice that it gets the remix treatment now.  Already a spaced out kind of song, “Los Angeles Guitar Dream” gets pushed further into that spectrum by the stylings of Blind Man’s Colour.  Take a listen:

Brooklyn’s Spanish Prisoners gained a little prominence with the release of 2008’s Songs To Forget (which features the unforgettable “Some Among Them Are Killers”).  Now the band, led by Leo Maymind, have released a free 3 song EP Los Angeles Guitar Dream.  On this short release they open up their sound quite a bit, drenching their largely guitar driven rock with organ rich psychedelia.  This transformation has them sounding like Grandaddy or perhaps early Flaming Lips.  It’s a more cinematic sound and I’m all for it!
