The Atlantic Ocean by Richard Swift was a pleasant surprise of an album this year that I continually listen to. Here’s a video for the title track just released featuring robot battles, rough cut dance video circa 1985 and more:
For a few years now everyone had been telling me, “Dude, you should check out Richard Swift. He’s dope. You’d be a sucker if you didn’t listen to him.” So what did I do? Ignore ‘em! I don’t know why! What a fool I was! A month ago I received the promo for his fourth studio album, The Atlantic Ocean (out April 7th via Secretly Canadian), and I tell yew hewhat – I’m figgin locked into this album. It’s like Stevie Wonder meets Tom Waits – gruff funky electronic bouncy saloon croons. It’s fun. It makes me smile. I’m addicted. So guess what…dude you should check out Richard Swift. You’d be a sucker if you didn’t listen to him. Don’t be a sucker (like me).
