Fever Ray’s track “When I Grow Up”, like the other tracks off of the self titled album, is a hazy subdued dark wonder featuring the ever glorious vocals of Karin Dreijer. Sweden’s Lissvik takes the track into the sunlight a bit and spices up the tempo until it actually resembles some of Dreijer’s earlier work with The Knife. Take a listen:

I’m pumped for the upcoming DOOM (formerly MF DOOM) album due out on March 24th and entitled Born Like This. Well apparently mister Thom Yorke is slated to remix the track “Gazzillion Ear” and will be featured as an Itunes bonus track. So what does this mean? It means I’ve circled March 24th in bright red magic marker on my calendar and I suggest you do the same. Here’s some tracks to help you fantasize what this remix might actually sound like.

Last September we we fell in love with My Tiger My Timing and their afrobeat infused dance rock that reminded us of Hot Chip cheating on Architecture In Helsinki. Well we just came across the UK’s Django Django’s remix of MY Tiger My Timing’s “This Is Not The Fire”. DD basses it up a bunch! The song really lends it self to be clubbed up and really transforms into a heavy danceable track. Check it:

The relentless Immuzikation is back with a new redux of Phoenix’s new single “1901″ off of the upcoming Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Immuzikation really treats the beat in a a different light and that’s what creates the new dynamic. The end result really reminds me of The Cars. Check it:

It’s nice to see such a fun light pop band like the Submarines get the remix treatment. They’ve been nice enough to go all out with that idea by releasing two EPs, The Submarines Remixed 1 and The Submarines Remixed 2 (both out now). The EPs feature remixes by the likes of Amplive, Ra Ra Riot, Tonetiger, Wallpaper, Styrofoam and more. Here’s a few standouts:

Have you heard of MGMT? Just kidding…I’m pretty sure everyone has…and some times a little too much. Their track “Kids” has been covered and remixed a bazillion times, but when Pet Shop Boys take their turn, I take notice. They take back to the days and nights of neon lights, neon clothes, and synthesizers galore. It’s called the Pet Shop Boys “Synthpop Remix” and by golly that’s definitely what it is. Check it:

MSTRKRFT’s album Fist Of God is almost here (due out on St. Patty’s Day), but I thought I’d mention some sweet remixes that have been getting some playing time around here. The first is Ireland/UK’s Screendeath’s version of “Click Click”. This is purely instrumental – taking out E-40s verses and smoothing over some of the grit MSTRKRFT is known for.

The next is everybody’s favorite DJ A-Trak and his version of “Bounce” featuring NORE. A-Trak took this track back to old school hip hop and dance music. There’s even a “Hey Ladies” cowbell that shows up. Nice.

Australia’s Empire Of The Sun are popping up all over the blog world these days and with good reason. Once you get past their Star Wars movie poster like album cover, the music is full of fire. There have also been a stream of remixes flowing for these guys as well…which this post covers two of. The first is from Australia’s Sam La More and his version of “We Are The People”. It’s a pretty solid effort beefing up the disco house vibe and going from there.

The second is from Hungary’s Eron Mezza and his version of “Swordkiss Hotfish Nite”. This is my favorite track from the album and Mezza does it some serious justice by giving it some extra umph. This track drums up memories of early Michael Jackson and the Electric Boogaloo.
