New FREE EPs from Setting Sun and Quitzow

It’s not too late for some extra gifts for the holiday season is it?  That’s good because the good folks over at Young Love Records have offered up two free EPs for your listening pleasure.  The first is a remix EP, Children Of The Remix, from NY’s Setting Sun.  We reviewed these guys a ways back and were delighted to hear many of the originals off of Children Of The Wild re-realized and electronicized.  The other EP is from Erica Quitzow or just “Quitzow” and is a follow up to her Art College LP.  It’s called Animal Nature and has Quitzow delving deep into those club pop electro buzz styles that got me going before.  Two great EPs from two great bands…and they’re FREE…awesome.

Get the EPs here.  Meanwhile listen up:

Holy Cow Quitzow!

Recorded in her New York home/studio with label-mate Gary Levitt (Setting Sun…see our review here), Erica Quitzow has just released her second album, Art College.  With sounds sewing in the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, CSS, and Beck, Quitzow has truly put out a wildly expressive and entertaining album full of experimental soundscapes, bedroom electro-pop, and Enon style crazy rock.  While that may sound like Art School is a bit all over the place (which it is), everything coagulates behind Erica Quitzow’s voice which tends to shift between Karen O and Beth Gibbons.  Oh and she also plays about a bazillion instruments on this album (including a cat…trust me).  Impressive.  Most impressive.
