New M.I.A. – THERES SPACE FOR OL DAT I SEE [mp3/video]

Yesterday M.I.A. tweeted a new video/track “THERES SPACE FOR OL DAT I SEE” rocking the green electric dots whilst sportin’ a slow spaced bristling beat.  It’s friggin’ GOOD and has me psyched for the new album.

A Simple Thank You

Well one year ago today we put up our first post here on Pasta Primavera, and I thought I should write a little somethin’ somethin’ to reflect back on our first year in the blogosphere.  Years ago I wanted to start a music blog, but I was working a certain crappy job that paid the bills, but didn’t leave much time for anything else.  So I was content on reading blogs like Gorilla Vs. Bear, I Guess I’m Floating, 3hive, Sixeyes, and So Much Silence for my music fix.  A little over 13 months ago I was fortunately able to ditch that job for a new one that let my mind (and time) ease up a bit, and that’s when I thought up the idea for the blog Pasta Primavera (the name has it’s origin from the Beastie Boys lyric ‘I’m all mixed up like pasta primavera‘ from What Comes Around off of Paul’s Boutique).  JB, Simon (evilhomer), and I joined forces just to share our thoughts on music with each other.  We really didn’t think anyone would find us and actually read what we were writing.  A few months into it we realized that people were actually reading so we started to take things a bit more seriously (well not that serious, but serious enough to say we’re serious).  We also began to take notice of the enormous and awesome music scene from the Baltimore/DC/Philly section of the east coast and made a goal to support it to the best of our abilities.  After that things were just a blast.  Tons of great music constantly passes through our ears and we try our best to pass it on to you.  Finally I just want to say thanks…to everyone who has spent more than a second perusing our site in search of that musical note to brighten your day.  Without you we’d just be some blog somewhere doing something.  With you, we’re Pasta Primavera.  Here’s to reminiscing….

The Run Down – Thursday June 5, 2008

For those of you who aren’t somewhere taking in the first game of the NBA Playoffs, you might want to go to one of the many awesome shows tonight.  I told you that the beginning of the week was light on good events, but now begins the craziness.  In DC there is White Rabbits at the Black Cat and These New Puritans at DC9.  In Philly, the Kooks and The Morning Benders play the Fillmore while Rilo Kiley, Benji Hughes and Thao With The Get Down Stay Down are up at the Electric Factory.  Or if you want a bigger show, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are playing the Wachovia Center in PA.  Or if you want the ultimate dynamite show then head over to the 33rd St. Armory in Philly to check M.I.A. and Holy Fuck.

Friday (I’m A Remix)

Once again the end is here…of the week that is. The pain behind my left eye is slowly fading. In turn the headache that has been brewing all week has peaked…and maybe…just maybe…will go away. Enough about me though. Let’s talk about you the readers/listeners/lovers/haters. How are you? It’s friggin’ cold where I am, but it looks like it’s colder in many other regions. Green Bay? COLD! Massachusetts? COLD! Brazil? Not cold…but you thought I was gonna say cold…didn’t ya? Anyway I’ve got something that will warm the coldest and overheat the hottest. Remixes.

On the live side of things, there’s a good show if you head on up to Philly. The Teeth, Gildon Works, and Future Tips play Johnny Brenda’s tonight. It should be good, so don’t miss it!
