North Carolina’s Hammer No More The Fingers have been a favorite of mine since I started this ole blog.  Their no nonsense cap’n crunch style rock always have a place in my playlist.  These Durham boys have been busy recently and are getting set to release a new album, Looking For Bruce.  HNMTF don’t knock any new walls down with this release, but I would never want them to.  They just crank out another stream of fuzzed out power pop that is only meant to be played loud.  Looking For Bruce comes out on April 7th via Churchkey.

Hey!  Guess what?  Double Dagger, MASSHYSTERI, and Deep Sleep are playing Celebrated Summer Records in Towson, MD!  Also in Baltimore are Hammer No More The Fingers, Vinny Vegas, and Don Pennington who play the Talking Head.  Down in DC AC Newman and The Broken West play the Black Cat while Exactly, Future Islands, and Thrust Lab play the Velvet Lounge.  Also don’t forget that the Pogues continue their string of shows at the 9:30 Club with Marsielle Figs.

Tonight in DC there are some fiiine shows.  The first being a great one at the Black Cat with Hammer No More The Fingers an Gist.  Also the 9:30 Club has the first of a series of Pogues shows so don’t miss out.  Up north in Philadelphia Kungfu Necktie has a solid event with Takka Takka and Sister Suvi.  Should be fun!

Tonight in Baltimore the Hexagon has a good one going on with Love Peace Project, Jefferson Forklift, and Coaching The Ghost.  Down in DC there’s an absolute treat going on at the Rock and Roll Hotel with Caverns, Deleted Scenes, Hammer No More The Fingers, and Acedia.  Philly is the place to be with a load of shows.  The Mandell Theater has the Mad Dragon Concert featuring The Spinto Band, Illinois, and Hoots and Hellmouth.  The Khyber has those time traveling 60s pop rockers The Explorers Club performing with Power Animals and In Grenada opening.  If you want to see some legendary rock head over to the Electric Factory and check out The Pretenders.  Finally don’t forget that over at Pilam The Visitations, The March Hare, and Dangerous Ponies perform.  Enjoy!

New Hammer No More The Fingers “Shutterbug” and Tour Dates

Durham, North Carolina’s Hammer No More The Fingers have announced the release of their new album, Looking For Bruce, to be on April 7, 2009.  These guys play catchy straight up indie rock that makes your head nod even if you are not trying to say yes.  Check out the first single, “Shutterbug” and check them on tour (after the jump).

Tonight in DC the Rock and Roll Hotel has Via Audio, Feral Kids, and The Dance Party while the Velvet Lounge has Hammer No More The Fingers, Caverns, The City Veins, and Solar Powered Sun Destroyer.  There’s a bunch of events up in Philly tonight as well.  First up, Johnny Brenda’s has BOAT, Drink Up Buttercup, Greyhounds, and Creeping Weeds.  The M Room has Jana Hunter, Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez, and Lille Ruth Bussey.  Finally the Danger Danger Gallery is celebrating it’s third anniversary with performances by The Extraordinaires, Bunnies, Future Islands, EAR PWR, Height, Human Host, Forensic Teens, and Reverse X-Ray.  Enjoy!  Photo by Frank Hamilton
