That’s it! The Twelves are friggin sick. End of story. Fever Ray’s “Seven”, one of my top tracks of the year, was re-done by CSS a little while back and I didn’t think I’d hear a better effort. Not sure if The Twelves are better but it’s damn near close. Check it:
Fever Ray, the new project of Karen Dreijer of The Knife, has one of the best albums of the year. No doubt about it. The newest single “Seven” now has a new video and guess what? It’s a little weird….dark… and um weird. Shocker! Dreijer has apparently aged a ton and fancies an evening chillin’ with her bovine homies. Check it:
Also there’s been some sweet remixes so far for this track…enjoy!
Fever Ray’s newest single “Triangle Walks” has drawn a few great remixes recently and that continues with James Rutledge’s rework of the special tune. He doesn’t drastically change the structure of the song, but lightens it up in areas and gives it a bit more sunshine to where it actually sounds like it could be on one of the earlier The Knife albums. Take a listen:
Since Fever Ray has put out “Triangle Walks” as their new single and of course there would be some accompanied remixes to go along with it. While the original is a beast and cannot be matched, it’s nice to hear some alternate views for the track.
These days all you have to do is mention The Knife, Karin Dreijer Andersson, or Fever Ray and I’ll start listening. There’s about an 85% chance whatever news item or song will be good. That’s the case when I came across Montreal’s Tiga and his rework of the grand “Triangle Walks” by Fever Ray. This song is clubbed up and then some. Actually it ends up sounding a bit like earlier The Knife might sound. Take a listen and then view the video for the original after the jump.
Fever Ray’s track “When I Grow Up”, like the other tracks off of the self titled album, is a hazy subdued dark wonder featuring the ever glorious vocals of Karin Dreijer. Sweden’s Lissvik takes the track into the sunlight a bit and spices up the tempo until it actually resembles some of Dreijer’s earlier work with The Knife. Take a listen:

It’s seems like this Fever Ray album, due out on March 24th via Mute, is going to fulfill that void where a new The Knife album should be. It sounds that good. Karin Dreijer has just put out a new video for her Fever Ray track “When I Grow Up”. Guess what? It’s a bit strange. Shocking I know. It features a lovely lady dressed up in is what is sure to be the standard swimming outfit from now on. She’s perched on the diving board of some old guys pool (he don’t seem to mind) when all sorts of poltergeist things go down. Check it:
So this week was crappy. Cold. Ice. Tough sledding in DC (I still have faith Obama will get it together). Tough sledding in Tampa (not a Steelers fan – though I do admit they were pretty good). Work was a big headache on most of the days. If it wasn’t for my lovely family and the new episode of Lost…I would be downright miserable right now. Luckily it’s the start of the weekend now. The weather is going to warm up and the sun is going to come out and shine it’s shine down on my shiney forehead and…I’ll smile…and forget about all that crap…and…drum up some optimism for the following week. Maybe these will help you bring a little sunshine in:

mp3: Fever Ray – If I Had A Heart (Familjen Remix)
mp3: Empire Of The Sun – Walking On A Dream (Treasure Fingers Remix)
