Gone are the African rhythms and general dry heat grooves of The Very Best’s “Warm Heart Of Africa” in Brooklyn artist Alan Wilkis‘ recent remix. Instead Wilkis infuses his electro funk and it WORKS baby. It’s definitely an interesting bridging of genres/sounds. Who’s the winner? We are.

Last years The Very Best mixtape was just that, the very best. The combo of Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit (aka The Very Best) was irresistible and had me on my toes for some sort of album in the future. Well the wait is over because here comes Warm Heart Of Africa just in time for the summer. The newly released track for the album is the title track and features Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend. I’m certainly not shocked by the guest appearance of Koenig given that The Very Best reworked VW’s song on their mixtape and the two group’s styles have a common denominator. Needless to say the song crushes!
