I recently suggested all of you to take a listen to Eulogies new album Here Anonymous. Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t, but if you did most likely you enjoyed the track “Eyes On The Prize”. It’s probably the catchiest track on the album and it rocks pretty hard. Not surprising they have made a video for it. It’s not much of a video, just them playing in a big warehouse, but the song still kicks butt, so enjoy!
Eulogies‘ self titled debut album was one of the first albums I received to review for the blog and I was happily impressed with this band that I had heard for the first time. Peter Walker has that voice that reminds you of Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws at the same time. The music he and drummer Chris Reynolds, guitarist Drew Phillips, and bassist Garrett Deloian produce is somber in nature but upbeat with aggressive guitars and sharp beats at every turn. Their sound has only blossomed more with their new album Here Anonymous out on Dangerbird Records. It has what you’d expect for a more serious second album – better production, deeper sound. But overall the soul of the band is still there and Peter Walker’s ability to craft simple sounding pop songs that have classic indie rock written all over them yet bleed classic rhythm & blues is stronger than ever. Here Anonymous also feels a tad more pop driven than I remember Eulogies being…which is great in my mind. The whole thing is solid and each song could easily be a single…but if I had to choose two…
Holy crap! Did you read that headline? It’s true! We’ve teamed up with the fabulous Metro Gallery here in Baltimore to bring you one of our favorite DC bands Middle Distance Runner on March 29th. Earlier in March they’ll be playing SXSW then they kick off this tour with another favorite of mine, Eulogies as well as locals Payola Reserve. Baltimore has the honor of being the closing date of the small tour so you know the gang will be crazy energized. MDR will also be playing in support of their upcoming 7″ single The Unbeliever (which is kick ass). We are super proud to be a part of this event and would love to see a lot of our readers out in support. Be sure to keep an eye out for some giveaways leading up to the show.
One of our favorite Dangerbird Records’ artists, Eulogies is about to embark on a string of dates (but now DC/Baltimore/Philly?) supporting Darker My Love and The Duke Spirit. Check them after the jump.

Eulogies have announce the release of a new EP, Tempted To Do Nothing, out October 7th digitally and a later release of a VinylDisc (which you can use on your record player on one side because it’s grooved, but it still is a digital cd on the other — pretty awesome!) via Dangerbird Records. We have one of the tracks right here for you called Two Can Play and features Nikki Monninger of Silversun Pickups. If you’ve never heard Eulogies before, treat yourself to some seriously pleasant indie rock.

Everyone knows I’m a fan of Sea Wolf. Well their Dangerbird label mates, Eulogies, is starting to make an impression on me also. Their self titled debut came out this September and its rockin’ the ‘ol pod right now. Eulogies plays straight forward indie rock taking me back to the likes of Wilco, Sebadoh, and Built To Spill. That’s pretty high company, I know, but there’s nothing more appealing than a band that just PLAYS ROCK MUSIC. They don’t fuss around.
