Crystal Fighters – I Love London [mp3] + A load of remixes

crystal fighters

Back in June I caught onto Spain’s Crystal Fighters and their first single “Xstatic Truth”, a blistering rhythmic synth pop explosion.  Kitsune is about to release (November 30th)4 their second single “I Love London”, another frenetic beat driven affair, but this time with a grittier punk club influence (or perhaps as the one-sheet calls it – “Basque-tronica”).  This track is getting a wealth of air time on radio/blogs and it’s deserved.  Here’s to hoping an album is in the works for 2010.

Remix: Crystal Fighters take on Erik Hassle

crystal fighters

I’m still waiting on some sort of EP or album from Crystal Fighters.  Seriously folks.  I’m jonesin’ for somethin’!  The single “Xstatic Truth” still slays my ears.  They were nice enough to send this remix of Erik Hassle’s “Don’t Bring Flowers” my way the other day.  I’ll admit Erik Hassle isn’t my favorite musician in the world, but this rhythmic synth whirlwind that Crystal Fighters have surged through this track makes it all okay.  Check it:

Quick Hits: Crystal Fighters

crystal fighters

What are the chances that an old unfinished opera could inspire a modern band to form and create remarkable and kinetic music.  Slim to none, right?  But when Laure, singer from Crystal Fighters, came across this treasure of an opera in her deceased grandfather’s possessions, she was roused to share it with her mates and thus the band Crystal Fighters was formed.  I have no idea how prevalent a role this opera plays in their current music making but I guess you could call the opera Crystal Fighter’s muse.  Their first single “Xstatic Truth” out on Kitsune is a vibrant, vigorous, run around the block four times, organic synth explosion of fun.  I surely hope there’s a full album of this slated for release in the near future.  For now I’ll just have to keep this on repeat:
