Sometimes a remix can be a beautiful thing. Cassette’s Won’t Listen recently remixed a band named Christine and their track “Cool Your Shoes”. I knew nothing of this band, but this remix was so friggin’ sweet I had to find out more. Turns out Christine is a Vancouver duo that has a new EP, Good Ideas, out via Moongadget. I snatched it up and I recommend you do the same.
Many electronic pop bands like to push the envelope and the energy over the top, off the table, and onto the club floor. While I’ll admit most of the time I enjoy it, it’s nice for a change of pace with the genre. Enter Christine. They bring a folk sensibility to this computerized pop onderland that is rare and quite mezmerizing. If you’re in the mood for serene midday meditative music to sing along to while gently swaying your head along with the breeze…Christine is where it’s at.
