Montreal DJ/producer CFCF (aka Michael Silver) has repeatedly won me over with his electronic pop remixes of HEALTH, Sally Shapiro, The Presets, and Woodhands. Now he sets his sights on an album of his own entitled Continent which is due out on October 27th via Paper Bag Records. Our first taste comes with “Monolith”. As the name suggests, this song is big clocking in at 7 minutes and change. CFCF ditches the catchy melodies and such, that littered his remixes, for an exploration of build ups, caving ins, and wide expanses of electronic tones and vibrations. Wow HEALTH’s Get Color comes out next week (via Lovepump United) and from what I’ve heard so far it’s shaping up to be a great album. They also start a September tour this week opening for NIN’s last two dates ever. They roll into Baltimore on the 26th when they stop by Sonar. To help celebrate all of this Montreal’s CFCF have lent a hand with a bang up remix of the track “Before Tigers”. CFCF are no strangers to quality remixes nor are the unfamiliar with re-working HEALTH. Check it:

If you were hoping to grab a copy of Memory Cassette’s Call And Response EP unfortunately it’s sold out with no future repress. You can either listen to the majority of the tracks on their myspace or pick it up at some local retailers who might still have a copy on hand. Thankfully these New Jersians paired up with Acephale Records to release a free remix EP, Call And Responses, for all those who missed out. Sally Shapiro’s Miracles hasn’t hit the streets yet, but the anticipation is there and is only being fueled by some sweet remixes. “Love In July” suits this time period so well especially when Quebec’s CFCF get their hands on it. I knew this joint would kill as soon as I heard about since their previous hook with Sally Shapiro went so well (with “Time To Let Go”). Check it:
