New Andrew Bird Video: Anonanimal

andrew bird

Rolling Stone just premiered the video for Andrew Bird’s “Anonanimal”, perhaps one of my favorite tracks off of Noble Beast.  The article (found here) is actually pretty interesting.  Apparently Mr. Bird has been working on the video with director Lisa Barcy since before Noble Beast was released.  The track meant so much to him, and he was so impressed with Barcy’s stop motion animation work, he thought that he should really go all out on the video.  Needless to say it’s a beautiful visual representation of the abstract nature of living things and the way they evolve.  Take a look here.

Andrew Bird is also on an extensive tour with St. Vincent.  Check the dates after the jump.

New Andrew Bird

Here I am reading my favorite blogs and I come across a little mention of Andrew Bird’s Fitz And The Dizzyspells EP on I Guess I’m Floating.  I had totally forgotten that this was released a few weeks ago.  It’s a B sides and rarities type album but listening to it you would never guess that.  That’s the beauty of Andrew Bird.

And here’s an old remix from Joe Beats that I’ve always enjoyed:

Again thanks to IGIF for reminded me of this EP.

The Run Down – January 25, 2009

After a busy Friday and Saturday for shows, today seems a bit calm.  But in DC there’s a good one at the Black Cat with The Aquarium, Dennis Kane, and The Finish.  Up in Philly Yo! Majesty, The Floacist, and Sgt. Sass play the M Room while the main event is over at the Fillmore at the TLA.  There a dynamite show with Andrew Bird and Ra Ra Riot will surely be amazing.

The Run Down – January 19, 2009

As we all celebrate MLK’s B-day and get prepared for the big day tomorrow, DC seems to be pulling out all the stops tonight.  First there’s an inaugural show at the 9:30 Club with the infamous Beastie Boys, Citizen Cope, Sheryl Crow, and Justin Jones.  Over at the Warner Theatre the legendary Jay-Z  kicks the night into gear.  The Rock and Roll Hotel has Frightened Rabbit, Arc In Round, and David Karsten Daniels.  The big show is at the Sold Out Black Cat Inaugural Ball featuring Andrew Bird, Ted Leo, Tortoise, Waco Brothers, Eleventh Dream Day, Jon Langford, Sally Timms, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Ken Vandermark, Freakwater, Icy Demons, Judson Claiborne, and Thomas Frank.  Wow!  Also if you can’t make it to DC don’t forget that in Baltimore Hezekiah Jones, Baltimore String Felons, and Chris Kasper play Joe Squared, while in Philly Teed, Definite Awesome, and You, Me and T-Rex play the Khyber.  Enjoy!

The Run Down – Saturday August 9, 2008

Today is the first day of the famous Virgin Fest at Pimlico Race Track here in Baltimore. Nothing better than a hot August day in a venue with no shade to enjoy Lupe Fiasco, Wilco, Cat Power, Citizen Cope, Duffy, KT Tunstall, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, Jack Johnson, The Swell Season, Gogol Bordello, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and Chuck Berry and the Silver Beats. If you want to enjoy yourself in a less sweaty, more cozy atmosphere, then perhaps the Metro Gallery will do the trick with Panda Riot, Arms and Sleepers, and Avocado Happy Hour.   Also in Baltimore at 2460 St. Paul it’s Jana Hunter, Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez (CD Release), Strohmeier, and Small Sur (CD Release).  In Virginia is day two of the These United States event at Iota with The Apparitions and our good friends Bellman Barker. In Philly Johnny Brenda’s has Baltimore’s Beach House, Cass McCombs, and Tickley Feather while the Trocadero has Little Brother, Writtenhouse, Hustle Simmons, and DJ Ashkun. Also in Philly are The New Pornographers who take over the Electric Factory with Andrew Bird. Enjoy! Photo by Joshua J. Smelser
