Tonight there’s a whole slew of good shows in Baltimore. First there’s the Metro Gallery who has The Antlers and The Owls Go. I was a big fan of The Antlers’ Hospice so hopefully this show is good as well. Over at the Ottobar one of Philly’s best, Jukebox The Ghost roll into town with Danger Man and The Lombards opening. Also don’t forget that Tricky will be at Rams Head Live. Down in DC Mi Ami, Food For Animals, and Lexie Mountain Boys play the Velvet Lounge while The Moderate and Person Parcel take over the Black Cat for a night. Up north in Philly it’s thriving tonight as well. All The Saints play the Barbary with These Arms Are Snakes, Coathangers, and Caverns while the World Cafe Live goes old school with Throwing Muses. Finally Vetiver plays Johnny Brenda’s with Sian Alice Group opening. Enjoy!

Sometimes the amount of sound and power that comes out of the psychedelic rock genre can be somewhat off-putting for me. Not so with Atlanta via Alabama trio All The Saints who just released a new LP, Fire On Corridor X. In their case it all comes together like a perfect storm with guitars falling on you like a drenching rain, drums rolling like thunder, and the vocals flashing like heat lightning. Sometimes the drift into the thrash lane can be overwhelming, but not before swerving back to their side of the guitar driven psych rock road that echoes an early 90s grunge sound with deep Black Sabbath/70s hard rock undertones.

Tonight the shows pick up steam with a ton in the area. Here in Baltimore the Ottobar has a stellar line up with All The Saints, Eureka Birds, The Snowmen, and Northernmost, while Sonar has Casiotone For The Painfully Alone and No Kids. Down south in DC Jay Reatard and Cola Freaks play the Black Cat while The Hotel Cafe Tour comes into town at the 9:30 Club featuring Rachael Yamagata, Meiko, Jenny Owen Youngs, Thao Nguyen, and Samantha Crain. Also in DC are Happy Hollows and Birdlips. Up north in Philly The Fire has a good show with Sleeping In The Aviary, The Armchairs, Toy Soldiers, and Perkasie, while Lyrics Born plays the Trocadero, and Dungen plays Johnny Brenda’s. Enjoy!
