Tomorrow Yeasayer is set to release the long awaited follow up to All Hour Cymbals with their new one Odd Blood. Recently they put out “O.N.E.”, the second single from the album. I’m digging okay, but not as much as the first single “Ambling Alp”. XXXchange took their chances with a remix of “O.N.E.” whilst my boy Alan Wilkis kicks it up a notch with his version of “Ambling Alp”. Take a listen:

So I’m not the biggest fan/listener of Shwayze, but when my main man Alan Wilkis is attached to something I tune in. Glad I did for Wilkis’ new remix of Shwayze’s “Get U Home”. He lathers in his usual electronic funk, but makes it a bit harder with an almost Chromeo meets Daft Punk feel. Love it.

Gone are the African rhythms and general dry heat grooves of The Very Best’s “Warm Heart Of Africa” in Brooklyn artist Alan Wilkis‘ recent remix. Instead Wilkis infuses his electro funk and it WORKS baby. It’s definitely an interesting bridging of genres/sounds. Who’s the winner? We are.

Last year I proclaimed to have “that Wilkis funk” with Alan Wilkis‘ debut album Babies Dream Big. Well it looks like I’ve contracted another case of that so called “funk” because Mr. Wilkis has just exploded back with a new EP, Pink and Purple, and the grooves on this bad mamma jamma (thass right) leaves everything else in the dust. I mean this thing channels P-Funk soaked with Rockwell’s sweat. If you’re looking for some summer jammy jams….go ahead and get that Wilkis funk.

What could possibly make these slow work weeks just breeze by? How ’bout a remix in my inbox from Alan Wilkis – a man that has some serious funk flowing through his veins. He’s busy at work on his new EP, Pink and Purple, but he’s also been dabbling in the remix. He sent over his rework of Phoenix’s “1901″. I’m already high on this band from their stellar performance on SNL, so any reason to listen to them again is a plus. Wilkis does a good job as well. Take a listen:
