Down in DC Mirah and No Kids play the Black Cat while Z-Trip mixes it up at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Up north in Philly there’s a ton of solid shows. PROPS for the soulwax remix of shadow. been looking for that one for a minute now. i’mma keep tabs.
Damn…I missed 2 Many DJ’s, and DJ Z-Trip–two acts doing the mash-up thing on decks, well before that young whipersnapper Gillis came along with a laptop.
Z-Trip’s “Uneasy Listening, Vol. 1″ is the gold standard for cross-genre juxtaposing mash-ups, IMO. It doesn’t get better than Pat Benatar’s “Love is a Battlegroud” mash-up with The Pharcyde’s “Passing Me By.” The two tracks were made for each other like peanut butter and jelly.
