Tonight in Baltimore the Ottobar has The Mishaps, All Night Drug Prowling Wolves, Sick Sick Birds, and Thee Lexington Arrows. Down in DC the Black Cat has The Octopus Project and Jeans Team while the 9:30 Club has Minus The Bear, Annuals, and Sylvie. Also in DC at the State Theatre is Broken Social Scene and Land Of Talk. I saw Land of Talk/Broken Social Scene last night in Richmond. Well, really, I saw them this morning, too, because Broken Social Scene played an over-three-hour set, which was incredible. I’ve seen a good handful of bands live, but Broken Social Scene really seemed to enjoy what they were doing far more so than any other performers. They had fun. And the whole show just felt like a jam sesh for friends, not so much like a sesh to gain adoration from fans. That’s why it was such a valuable experience.
Also, Liz from Land of Talk messed up and came in at the wrong part for a Broken Social Scene song, and she seemed rather embarrassed. Rather than being frustrated, the crowd found it absolutely endearing.
