Fun electronics. Hand claps. Catchy hooks, yet somewhat out of the ordinary. Can you really ask for anything more?
Cambridge, MA’s Passion Pit is the music-child of Michael Angelakos. The Chunk Of Change EP (which is highly addictive. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) was written and recorded as a belated Valentine’s present to Angelakos’ girlfriend (pretty friggin’ sweet gift!). Naturally when other people started hearing it, things started to take off. The EP has those throwback sounds, but witha modern energy (as if The Death Set crashed Erasure’s house party). The success of Chunk Of Change and Passion Pit has led to a (hopefully) promising debut album on the horizon in 2009. Apparently the live show is a visual dance frenzy so keep an eye on the calendar, but for now check out some of my favorites from the EP.

I am absolutely loving this band. “Sleepy Head” is another awesome song by them on the EP.
I think Sleepyhead is everyone’s favorite – mine too!
You should know that I read your music blog more religiously than any other blog on the interwebz, and this post is why in a nutshell. Consistent delivery of gems like this will keep me reading forever. Cheers.
