Straight out of Denton, Texas comes the large and in charge force that is Matthew & The Arrogant Sea. Fans of Flaming Lips, Sufjan Stevens, These United States, or Fleet Foxes might dig some of the music put together for their new album Family Family Family Meets The Magic Christian. The album itself is somewhat mixed up, but generally comes across like an epic journey through some sort of fantasy quest of emotions. A few songs sew hard-to-pin-down percussion to soothing vocal harmonies and strummed guitars (thus the Fleet Foxes comparison) while others clash and bang like towering temples falling to the earth. Matthew & The Arrogant Sea have kept that great musical tradition of Denton alive and well.
