Last October I happened upon a sweet Denver band Young Coyotes. Their brand of indie rock brought about comparisons to Pinback and Arcade Fire. I didn’t know much about them then and I still don’t, but apparently they noticed my post because a month ago Zach Tipton of Young Coyotes sent me an email asking me to check out his new solo project I Am The Dot. His new self titled EP is something else. The rhythms, melodies, and overall sound seem more robust and…well interesting. There’s a smattering of styles in there, but it all comes down to Tipton’s talent as a song writer/composer…and he’s good… so the music is good. Strangely each song is exactly 3 minutes long. Go figure. Check it:
