Chicago’s The Race have crept their way into my subconscious and are currently tinkering with important brain waves whilst I try to get some work done…their music is fueling my creativity and pushing me over the edge. I immediately compare them to Depeche Mode, but a little rougher…so naturally that would line them up with the likes of The Presets, but without that thumping club energy. So what does that leave me with…well their leader Craig Klein probably describes it best:
“a kind of Judeo-gothic-electric-western, melting the acid westerns and road films of the 60s and 70s with some cracked vision of Old Testament-style fire and brimstone.”
They have an album out now entitled Exiles via St. Ives. Check out a few nice ones from it:
