It’s Friday. It’s grey. This day feels like it’s going in slow motion. The band Psychic Powers pops up on my computer and every thing fits. I easily fall for their new wave electronic pop that could be the backdrop of a dark grey London evening…but these guys come out of LA? Where’s the sun and fun and lo-fi surf pop that seems to be the staple. Ah well good riddance for this fine dreary day…Psychic Powers, the duo of Nik Brinkman of Over The Atlantic (from New Zealand) and Alejandro Cohen of Languis, met while on tour and then decided to collaborate later through the internet. They have just released their single Wellington out on Geographic North and this two track number has a New Order feel all over it…which is aces in my book.
