Baltimore’s Height With Friends released their Baltimore Highlands album late last year and might have slipped by people. It’s a shame if it did because it was perhaps one of the best hip hop albums I had heard in a while. In fact I still find myself pulling that album every so often and pumping it loud. Right around it’s release date Wham City Records started posting up free remixes every so often for a limited time. I managed to snag a few, notably the DJ Authentic remix of “Standing Up Asleep” which simply kills. But I also missed a few I’m sure. Then a few months ago (I think) I received a heavenly email with Tobacco’s friggin’ awesome remix of “Baltimore Highlands”. Seriously people, can Tobacco do any wrong? I think not. Come to find out that all these fab remixes (and many more) are now available, courtesy of our pals Aural States, on the Baltimore Highlands Remix Album. AS released it digitally for free and you can get it here. Some of my favorites include AK’s (of AK Slaughter) version of “Cold and Shaken”, Lesser Gonzalez’s take on “Escape Tune”, and Gavin Riley’s redux of “Mike Stone”. There is a physical CD release too and it features an epic remix of “The Woods” by Cex and another remix of “Mike Stone” by Al Lover. Make sure you catch the release show at the Wind Up Space here in Baltimore on October 16th. Lizz King and AK Slaughter will be blasting tight sets as well. Here’s some tracks to get you pumped:
