Suggested Listening: Mike Kuehn

mike kuehn

Mike Kuehn sent me an email detailing how he came to find my blog through the Hype Machine while searching for The Most Serene Republic.  He helped mix/record their last album Population and did some work on the last Born Ruffians album as well.  Then he offered up his own album, I’m Pretty Good At Giving Up, for a listen.  I naturally took the time since I’m a fan of both the albums he worked on….and as it turns out…Mr. Kuehn ain’t half bad.  In fact I’d go on the record saying the Mike Kuehn has put together a quality rock album.  I’m Pretty Good At Giving Up has all the things I look for in a pop rock album – solid production, interesting melodies, decent lyrics, and enough minor style changes to keep me on my toes.  There’s nothing super spectacular about it, but there doesn’t need to be either.  Mike Kuehn makes quality rock…and some days that’s all I need.
