Quick Hits: Faux Hoax

faux hoax

Pronounced “Folks”, Faux Hoax is a mysterious experimental band consisting of Danny Siem (of Menomena), Dave Allen (of Gang Of Four), John Askew (of Tracker), and sometimes features Joe Haege (of 31Knots) and Adam Gnade (of Asthmatic Kitty).  When I first saw that his was a Danny Siem project I jumped on it because Menomena is the shiznit.  As one would expect from a group of eclectic artists like this, the music is odd, experimental, but rooted in rock somewhere.  In fact Faux Hoax’s music really combines many of the aspects of all the respected bands that each member is from.  Who knows if there will be a full length associated with Faux Hoax.  For now they have a 3 track 7″ entitled Your Friends Will Carry You Home out on Polyvinyl.

  • The Seim influences really stick out…in a good way. Have you heard his Lackthereof project? Also Menomena’s Brent Knopf has his own project called Ramona Falls. He has two tracks up on myspace. His first album is out on Barsuk in August…and it sounds awesome!
