Starlight Mints have always hovered around that “indie” rock sound (though I admit the term “indie” is thrown around a lot with varied meanings), but they never seem to plant both feet firm on the ground. Instead they dart between experimental, funk, noise, circus, gypsy, dub, and crazy then occasionally drift back down to rock. Their ever changing sound is their trademark and continues strongly on the aptly titled Change Remains, their new album out via Barsuk today. The album took three years to come out and they say the next one will probably take another four (because four is their new magic number). Let’s hope we don’t have to wait until 2013 for another album because Change Remains is as much fun as I’ve had listening to an album since Skeletal Lamping.
