Chicago’s Nigel Evan Dennis is a fairly successful digital artist working with big companies such as Coca-cola and Sony, but he shifts gears occasionally to focus his energies to music and his band A Lull. He and friends Mike Brown and Todd Miller have just released a new EP by A Lull entitled Ice Cream Bones via Lujo Records (Pomegranates, Baby Teeth). Their sound takes acoustic elements (guitar, drums, vox) and binds them with samples, organs, and ambient textures – much like the band The Notwist does, yet A Lull reminds me more of another band – Aloha (not surprising Aloha’s TJ Lipple helps out on the EP). A full length is in the works for A Lull and they’ve just released a great video for “Skinny Fingers” (directed by Nigel Evan Dennis himself). Check it:
