MGMT has just released a new video for “Kids” off of Oracular Spectacular. In it we find a child experiencing one of the worst days of his life. Monsters everywhere, a mom who’s oblivious, and a freaky children’s show on television. If it wasn’t for that mystical group of fellows in the park with the dog wearing a silver lampshade, who knows ho bad it could have become. Why’s mom gotta trash the cool headband?

That kid is going to have problems for life
I liked MGMT, until I saw this video – putting a child through that, just to express themselves “artistically”? It’s child abuse !!! NOT art !!! Sick.
There is no way this kid was in any real distress, there are very strict laws in that regard. my guess is we have a kid here who can cry-act on demand, and between takes the “monsters” are feeding him ice cream and candy.
At that age, don’t you think any child would regard things in the world monstrous…outside of their mother’s arms? The monster cop “rescues” the kid and takes him back to the Mom.
Great animation too…is that possibly done by Chad VanGaalen? Whoever did it, it’s cool!!
