Sometimes covers really annoy me…especially when they try to recreate some of my all time favorites from my teen years. Enter the Montreal electro pop outfit Winter Gloves and their cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The first time I heard this bouncy organ hand clap version I thought it was quirky yet cool. The second time I heard it I threw my headphones off and cursed the music gods for sucking the energy out of the original. The third time it felt great listening to this bright song on a sunny day. The fourth time I didn’t like it AT ALL…and so on. So I guess I’m fifty fifty on this one. What do you think?
