Suggested Listening: De Rosa

Every now and then there’s  a particular band that makes me stop a take a look at the track inof while I have my library on shuffle…sometimes I even mutter, “Who the hell is this?”  Glasgow’s De Rosa is a band that has taken this role.  Their unique approach to rock has me twisting my neck each time they come on.  De Rosa play rock like an undulating river of mood, anxiety, stress, passion, and joy.  The boundaries of verse chorus verse usually disappears and they end up in a place where bands like Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Voxtrot, and Of Montreal Roam.  A free flowing valley of subtle experimentation rolled up with lush rock and roll.  Prevention is their new album and it follows up their heralded 2006 release Mend.  It’s a solid album that is quickly rising to the top of  my charts every listen.

  • These guys really deserve to make it big; Prevention is fantastic, as are their other releases. In fact, I’ve yet to hear a song of their’s that I really dislike. Definitely a band to watch!
