Maddening March Musical Madness Part 2- The Sweet Sixteen

Wow what a fantatic first two rounds of College/Musical heavyweights battling it out on the big stage.  While my personal bracket got seriously screwed by Beck (Wake Forest) completely choking against The Presets (Cleveland St.), I couldn’t be happier with how the sweet sixteen has shaped up.  Take a look at the Sweet Sixteen bracket here. MGMT (Louisville) vs. My Morning Jacket (Arizona)

While MGMT is the unanimous pick because of their ridiculous popularity, don’t count MMJ out…they’re an experienced band that won’t back down to anyone.

Justice (Kansas) vs. Vampire Weekend (Michigan State)

Two powerhouses right here in a showdown I only wish was actually happening.  Good lord this is a strange match up.  Preppy boy indie afro beat rock against intense club djs that have soared to the top.  The real question is – which of these two bands will put out a decent follow up album?

Radiohead (Connecticut) vs. TV On The Radio (Purdue)

I have Radiohead taking this one, but TVOTR is a strong band that has put out album of the year quality albums each time…but…it’s Radiohead.

Fleet Foxes (Missouri) vs. Lykke Li (Memphis)

I picked Lykke Li to beat Spoon (Maryland) but I wasn’t happy about it…AT ALL.  That being said, after that win – the double L has shown that she’s got what it takes to go all the way.  Sorry Fleet Foxes.

I have Cut Copy winning it all on my bracket, but honestly who wouldn’t want the new mother taking them down…just as long as she doesn’t wear that dress from the Grammys.

I would like to think this would be a close call, but really AC will destroy DCFC…it’s just a different league.

Bon Iver (Syracuse) vs. Hot Chip (Oklahoma)

Bon Iver is my sleeper pick to make the Final Four, but Hot Chip is no push over.
