Yeah! Philadelphia has a new band to love! Evening Magazine! Started by ex-BC Camplight guitarist David Disbrow (BC Camplight was a fave of mine – too bad they’re gone – if this is the outcome, I’m happy) and recording engineer Kevin Francis, Evening Magazine is a nine piece band that makes the word grand seem minuscule. Booming choruses, booming strings, booming synths, boom my ears, and shake my floors so delightfully. Arcade Fire first came to mind for comparisons, but not so serious and a bit more…modern sounding. The released a stellar EP, The Ride Across Lake Constance, in January and it’s still finds it’s way into my daily rotation. Here’s some highlights (though the whole thing is wondrous):

BTW. BC Camplight is not gone. They just signed a deal for their first US release which apparently will be out in about 5 months.
Oh that’s great! On the Evening Magazine press release it said ex-BC Camplight guitarist so I just assumed that they were now gone…but sweet news that they are not.
