I’m not quite sure why I like New York’s Francis and the Lights. There’s just something about them (and hey Kanye digs ‘em too). A bizarre concoction of Prince’s spazzed out R&B and Steve Winwood’s…umm…whatever you would call his music. Anywho that really doesn’t sound like it would work out too well, does it? Well it does. Francis Farewell Starlite has that kick and emotion that could be considered over the top, but I consider it compelling. They have two releases – Striking and A Modern Promise – and both are solid though I sway towards Striking. You can also download the albums for free on their site. Here’s some highlights:
