A lot has happened since 2006 – when Cursive released their heralded Happy Hollow album. Well Nebraska is back on the map again with the band’s long awaited follow up Mama, I’m Swollen out on Saddle Creek. They’ve rolled out the red carpet with deals and promotional tactics for this one, but the good thing is – it’s worth it. Cursive are a band that you wait around for. Their brand of rock is hard hitting and tender at the same time. Tim Kasher can have a Frank Black growl one moment and a Robert Smith croon the next…the music behind him flows in the same stream. Thus Mama, I’m Swollen is straight forward and unpredictable, exciting yet blissful, edge of your seat, comfort music. Here’s some highlights:
