Another new track from Depeche Mode’s upcoming Sounds Of The Universe album just surfaced on the internet and I’m definitely liking the direction this album seems to be going. “Hole To Feed” is the track and it’s a slow backwords-effect synthesizer of a track that doesn’t explode, rather it simmers the whole way through. I like songs like this. This is where Depeche Mode is honest with who they are as a band – not just looking for a hook – just unique instrumentation and Gahan’s croon.
mp3: Depeche Mode – Hole To Feed
***CORRECTION/UPDATE*** Apparently this version is a demo version and will sound a lot different on the album (even so – still pretty damn good). Thanks for the heads up dannyboyb and Audiodrums!

I don’t know… Ben Hillier sure does not know how to take the personality out of a song. It’s just noise, Alan Wilder would do something radically different with this melody.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the finished version…
Thanks dannyboyb…I made the correction in the post.
No worries – apparently this one is gonna have a massive stomping beat behind it.
sweet…i don’t think anything massive and stomping ever sounded bad
Sounds just like something off Gahan’s last solo album. Meaning, kind of tuneless and meandering. Hopefully, this is an unfinished DM track, or is actually just a Dave left-over.
DM certainly does NOT need Alan Wilder back. All of Ultra was spectacular, Exiter, Playing the Angle and Sounds of the Universe prove he is not needed.
I hear hole to feed is the next DM single.
