Yesterday was a frustrating day. Everything seemed poised for destruction. What was I to do? I did what any logical/rational human being would do. I grabbed a sheet of loose leaf, wrote in big black block letters on it HELP ME. Then I folded it into a paper airplane and let if fly. A few moments later a rock with a piece of paper came crashing through the other window. The note said in fancy calligraphy, “Odawas“. And that, my friends, was the solution to my frenzied day. Chicago’s Odawas play spacious semi ambient soft rock that feels like My Morning Jacket diluted with rainbows. Their album, The Blue Depths (out on Jagjaguwar) has a calming effect like no other. It saved the day.
