When I listen to Ham1’s newest album, The Underground Stream (which you can get for free via Ham1’s website), I can’t help but think of ham radio. A device that connects you to a massive world of sounds and thoughts. You never know what you’ll pick up. That’s my impression of Ham1 as well. Sometimes lo-fi, sometimes, punk, sometimes surf, sometimes everything all at once. It can be a bit displacing at times, but really you can’t ask for anything more from chief songwriter Jim Willingham. He’s putting all the card on the table and we get to devour the results.
